OBSERVATION

This question was well attempted by the candidates.  In 4(a-b), majority of the candidates were able to explain animal nutrition and state the functions of oestrogen in animal reproduction.  However, most of them could not explain selection, breeding and introduction as methods of animal improvement as required in 4(c).  Although, most of them were able to define ornamental plants and state the vegetative methods that could be used to propagate ornamental plants as required in 4(d-e).
The expected answers include:
(c)     Explanation of methods of animal improvement

  1. Selection

This is the process of picking/choosing one or more animals with desired qualities from a group/population for breeding purposes

  1. Breeding

This is the mating of animals of the same species with the aim of transferring desirable qualities from parents to offspring

  1. Introduction

This involves bringing exotic breeds of animals with desired qualities into a new environment
