Majority of the candidates answered these questions which were on literary appreciation of the given poetic and prose excerpts on different periods of Arabic Literature. Those candidates with good background of Arabic performed creditably well. They achieved this by giving the biographies of the poets involved where applicable and the circumstances surrounding their compositions before doing the literary appreciation of the given  excerpts.
