  1. (a)State the function of each of the following walls:
    (i)partition wall;
    (ii)cavity wall.
    (b)List two types of doors in relation to the method of opening.
    (c)Sketch a two-panel door and label four parts.
    (d)Describe a method of stopping a leakage around a roof nail in an existing aluminium ridge cap.

OBSERVATION

Most candidates were able to:
state the function of the given type of walls;
list types of doors in relation to the method of opening.
However, few of them were unable to:
sketch a two-panel door correctly;
describe a method of stopping a leakage around a roof nail in an 'existing aluminium ridge cap.
The expected response to question 3 is as given below:
(a)Function of each of the following walls:
(i)Partition wall is an internal wall which divides a building into rooms or spaces.  
(ii)Cavity wall is a wall built into two leaves with a 50mm-75mm airspace between the two leaves of wall provides thermal insulation and barrier to moisture penetration into the building.   
(b)Types of doors in relation to method of opening.
They are:
(i)Sliding door.
(ii)Folding ~ Sliding door.
(iii)Swinging door.
(iv)Revolving door.
(v)Roller-Shutter door.

(d)Method of stopping a leakage around a roof nail in an existing aluminium ridge cap
Remove the existing nail, cover and the washers. Clean the area around the nail hole of all debris. Stop or block the hole with a perforated crown of roofing sheet. Place the metal washer, followed by felt-washer onto the roofing nail. Drive the nail and washer firmly into the purlin.
