Most candidates who attempted this question were able to:
state the reasons for removing vegetable soii from a building site; use sketches to describe methods of preventing collapse of a foundation
trench;
state the functional requirements of a damp proof course in a wall.
However, some of them failed to:
describe the methods of preventing collapse of a foundation trench, state the functional requirements of a damp proof course in a wall.
The expected response to question 4 is as given below:

(ii)

It must be resilient.

(iii)

It should be durable.

(iv)

Ability to withstand heat.

(v)

Ability to withstand imposed load,

Ability to resist perforation/shear.
