(b) Outline any four measures that can be adopted by the government of your country to solve the problem of unemployment.

Observation

(a)        Majority of the candidates who attempted this question scored average marks.  Most of the candidates were able to provide answers for the (a) part but could not outline the appropriate measures for solving the problem of unemployment in their country.

Candidates who scored low marks did not include some of the following points in their answers.

(b)        The measures government can adopt to solve the problem of unemployment:

(i)         establishment of labour exchanges;
(ii)        industrial location policy;
(iii)       deficit budgeting;
(iv)       training and re-training of labour;
(v)        the use of appropriate technology;
(vi)       encouragement of foreign investment.
