The passage was appropriate and the vocabulary range was within the candidates’ ability to comprehend. Yet, the performance of many of the candidates was poor.

Many answers were merely lifted from the passage, thus attracting zero scores.  Also, some candidates used preambles that were either faulty or which merely served as headings to the answers given.
