Observation

Candidates were expected to state safety precautions to be observed when operating a circular sawing machine. Some of the candidates stated the general workshop safety. The solution is shown below:

(i) operating the machine when already tired;

(ii) not reading the manual before using the machine;

(iii) leaving the machine unattended to while it is in motion;

(iv) making an adjustment on the machine while it is motion;

(v) not using safety appliances;

(vi) touching a moving part of the machine;

(vii) lack of operational skill;

(viii) wearing loose clothing.
