     Find the equation of the line which passes through the point (3. -2) and is perpendicular to      the line 3x + 2y – 4 = 0.

Observation

         The report stated that this question was attempted by majority of the candidates and they      performed very well in it. They were able to calculate the gradient of the given line by      making y the subject of the equation and obtaining the coefficient of x which was - . The      gradient of a line perpendicular it would then be . If the line passes through point (3, -2),      then its equation would be given by  y + 2 = (x – 3) which simplified to 2x - 3y – 12 = 0.
