  1. SUMMARY OF CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

The Chief Examiner observed that areas of candidates’ weaknesses included:

  1. Failure to adhere to the rubrics of the questions
  2. Trapezium rule
  3. Logarithms and its applications
  4. Functions
  5. Partial fractions
  6. Mechanics
  7. Matrices
  8. Vectors

 

  1. SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The following remedies were suggested by the Chief Examiner:

    • Candidates were encouraged to cover all the topics in the syllabus while preparing for the examination
    • Teachers as well as candidates were encouraged to put in more effort in studying Mechanics/vectors.
    • Teachers were encouraged to use instructional materials during lesson so as to re-enforce the learning of mathematical concepts
    • Candidates were encouraged to read through each question carefully so as to understand its demands and adhere to the rubrics
    • Candidates were encouraged to avail themselves of past WASSCE Further Mathematics questions.
