This question was unanswered by many candidates.  Most of those who answered the question were able to draw correctly the relief of the ocean floor but some could not properly label the part.  The only remedy to this will be to be adequately prepared by reading promptly.

Some of the candidates were able to advance a few reasons for which the continental shelf provide the world’s major fishing grounds.

The expected answers include:              
-  it is shallow;
-  sunlight penetrates the shallow water to supply energy to plankton; - the conditions at the continental shelf favour the growth of sea planktons;
-  some fish have the habit of coming from water to land for spurn;
-  continuous washing of vegetable matter from land to sea enrich the water of continental shelf for the growth of fish.
