This is a compulsory question that was answered by almost all the candidates.  The performance of the candidates was just fair as quite a good number of them did not draw the length and breadth of the new map correctly.  Most of those who missed the correct dimension of the border line of the reduced map could not insert river JALINGO and the 700 ft contour line correctly.  If candidates familiarize themselves with exercises on topographical maps well ahead of the examination, they will master the act before the examination.  Many of the candidates were able to state economic activities in the mapped area giving reasons.  Most candidates still need to understand contour lines and the pattern they show for various relief features so that description of relief pattern could be understood by them.
