Some problems that were noted in the candidates scripts included:
(1) Inadequate preparation for the examination
Some of the candidates did not fully cover the syllabus. Some candidates
performed poorly in most of the questions.
(2) Poor drawings
Some candidates produced poor sketch maps and could not properly locate
features as their maps were poorly drawn.
(3) Use of incorrect expressions
The expressions by some candidates were poorly made. Such candidates
failed to properly communicate their thoughts.
(4) Scanty explanation of points
The points presented by most candidates were scantily presented. The point
should be elaborated upon to earn full marks for most Geography questions.
4. SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES
- Adequate preparation for examination
Candidates are advised to start preparing for the examination early enough so
that they could be adequately ready for the examination.
- Practising of drawing
The candidates should practise the drawing of maps as they read along so that
they could adequately represent features on the map when required.
- Use of correct expression
Constant reading will enhance vocabulary building that could strengthen
the power of the candidates’ abilities to express themselves.
- Adequate explanations of points
Points should be properly explained in order to get full marks in most Geography
questions.
