Question 1

(a)      Yadda za a bunkasa sana’o’in gargajiya a kasar nan.

          How to improve traditional occupations in this country.

Observation

Candidates were required to explain how to improve traditional occupations in the country. In doing that, they are expected to define traditional occupation and mention examples like, noma    ƙira, sassaƙa, kiwo, kitso,etc. However, some ways of improving these occupations may include:

  • Provision of loan and grant to the artisan
  • Provision of market for finished goods
  • Encouraging the youth to learn the trades
  • Bringing in technology to improve production
  • Regular use of the products by the public
  • Subsidizing prices of the product by government
  • Enhancing cooperation among artisans

Candidates’ performance on this question was encouraging.

(b)     Wata mummunar gobara da na taɓa gani.

          An ugly fire incident I have ever seen.

Above is an narrative essay and the candidates were expected to write on an ugly fire incident they have seen. In attempting the question, candidates were required to define fire incident, mention the place, time and date the fire broke out, the cause of the fire, the help rendered by fire workers, the lost incurred, the help given to the victims by the government and associations

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was fair.

(c)      Samar da tsaro a ƙasa ya fi bunƙasa tattalin arzikin ƙasa, mene ne ra’ayinka?

Security is better than economic development in the country. What is your own opinion?

The question above is an argumentative essay, it sought the opinion of candidates between   provision of security and economic development. In attempting the question, candidates were expected to take a position and advance reasons for that.
 
Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was fair.

(d)      Rubuta wasiƙa zuwa ga shugaban ƙaramar hukumarku, ka nemi ya gina maku ɗakin shan magani

Write a letter to your local government chairman, requesting him to build a dispensary in your town.

Above is a letter writing.  The candidates were expected to write a formal letter using the following format.

  • Address of the writer
  • Chairman’s address
  • Salutation
  • Topic sentence
  • Content
  • conclusion

The content of the letter may include the following among others:

  • Reason for the request
  • Health care delivery to the people
  • Relieve people of the area from going far to look for medical attention
  • Provision effective drugs
  • Provision of enough and qualified doctors as well as other health workers
  • Provision of drugs for prevention of some anticipated diseases, etc.

     Many candidates attempted the question and their performance was commendable.

(e)        Da babbar rowa gara ƙaramar kyauta Half a loaf is better than none

The statement above is a proverb.  Candidates were required to give the meaning of the proverb, narrate a story that will end with the proverb and further identify other proverbs of its equivalent, for example:

  • Ƙaramin goro ya fi babban dutse.
  • Da babu gara ba ɗadi.
  • Da hannau gara mannau.
  • A sa a baka ya fi a rataya.

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was poor.
