Question 1

(a)      Hanyoyin kyautata ilimi a ?asar nan

                    How to improve the standard of education in the country.

Observation

Candidates were required to explain how to improve the standard of educationin the country. In doing that, they were expected to define education and mention things that are supposed to be done to improve the standard of education such as:
          -         Provision of qualified and adequate number of teachers to schools;
          -         Prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and allowances;
          -         Introduction of special salary structure for teachers;
          -         Organizing workshops and seminars for teachers;
          -         Provision of free education to pupils in all schools;
          -         Provision of enough teaching aids to schools; etc.

Candidates’ performance on this question was encouraging.

(b)     Yadda na ji da na ci jarrabawar shiga babban sakandare.

                    How I feel when I got admission into Senior Secondary School.

Above is a narrative essay and the candidates were expected to write on how they felt when they got admission into Senior Secondary School. The following points were expected from the candidates among others;
 
          -         when he wrote the JSSCE
          -         where he stayed while waiting for the result
          -         how he felt when he received the admission letter
          -         his reaction when he received the letter like jubilation, thanksgiving and
                     informing his parent of the success
          -         preparation for going to the school and seeking guidance/advice on the subjects
                     to offer.
  
Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was fair.


(c)      Irin shiga ta sutura da matasa kan yi a wannan zamani.

Mode of dressing by the youth in this period of modern times.

The question above is an expository essay, it requires the candidates to write on the mode of dressing by the youth in this period of modern times. In this essay, the candidates were required to explain the different dresses worn by the youths. For instance:
          -         sewing of transparent clothes;
          -         dressing without hijab or head tie;
          -         wearing of tight dresses;
          -         matching of trousers;
          -         tieing of hankachief on the head;
          -         dressing without cap; etc.
 
Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was not encouraging.

(d)       Rubuta wasi?a zuwa ga mahaifinka, ka bayyana masa yadda ake bikin yaye ?alibai a makarantarku.

Write a letter to your father, telling him how graduation ceremony is done in your school.

Above is a letter writing.The candidates were expected to write a letter using the following format.

  • Address of the writer
  • Date
  • Salutation
  • Content
  • Conclusion

The content of the letter may include the following among others:

                     -    Preparation, such as sending of invitation letters;
                     -    Rehearsal;
                     -    Preparation of list of candidates to receive prizes;
-   Main ceremony such as sitting of the students and candidates, sitting of guests, National  Anthem, opening prayers, introduction of special guests, speeches, prizes, refreshment,
              entertainment and closing prayers.

          Many candidates attempted the question and their performance was commendable.

 
(e)        Kome ya yi zafi maganinsa Allah

           Whatever has a beginning must surely have an end.

The statement above is a proverb.  Candidates were required to give meaning, narrate a story that will end with the proverb and further identify other proverbs of its equivalent, for example:

          -         Ha?uri maganin zaman duniya.
          -         Ha?uri ba ya ?aci.
          -         Maha?urci mawadaci.
          -         Mai ha?uri yakan dafa dutse ya sha romonsa.
          -         Komen nisan dare gari zai waye.
          -         komen nisan jifa ?asa zai fa?o.

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was poor.
