This questions was not popular among candidates therefore, in part(a)(i) candidates went off the track and wrote wrong answers such as; it results to cancer of the heart, it results to hypertension, it results to mental disorder and in (a)(ii) candidates correctly mention factors that influence the choice of consumer products.  In part (b) candidates could not correctly state ways by which dispensing services are important to the health of the consumer, they missed the road by stating, it gives nutrients to the body, it increases the body chemical called antibody and it reduces immunity.
The expected answers were as follows:

8 (a) (i)  Dangers associated with quackery

  • It can lead to death
  • It can damage human system
  • It can lead to permanent disability in human
  • Misinformation
  • It can lead to purchase of inferior/expired/sub-standard drugs.

     (ii)   Factors influencing choice of consumer products

  • Quality/genuiness of the products/authenticity/durability
  • Cost/price/economic status
  • availability of the product
  • brand name/popularity of the product within society
  • interest/need/taste
  •  packing
  • Publicity/advertisement
  • Culture/custom
  • Peer group influence

(b)       Ways in which dispensing service are important to the health of consumer

  • it help people to receive medical care
  • prescription of drugs is easily available
  • make available drugs for common illness
  • for first aid service
  • suggestion for further treatment
  • prompt service delivery/close to the consumer.
