(a)  (i)   Name five stages of personality development in humans                          [ 5 marks ]
  (ii)   State two characteristics each of the stages of personality 
        development  named in 9(a)(i).                                                                   [ 10 marks]      

 (b)  State five disadvantages of teenage pregnancy                                               [ 5 marks ]

Observation

This question was attempted by few candidates and their performance was very poor.  In part (a) (i) candidates did not name stages of personality development in humans, in (ii) also candidates did not also state characteristics of the stage of personality development.  In part (b) candidates could not also state disadvantages of teenage pregnancy.

However, the expected answers are as follows:
(a)(i)       STAGES OF PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT IN HUMANS

  • infant
  • childhood
  • adolescence
  • adulthood
  • aged/old age
  •  

                                                                 
    (ii)      CHARACTERISTICS OF INFANTS

  • innocent trust/distrust
  • imitation
  • inability to take decision/total dependency on adult
  • inability to speak for needs/non-verbal communication
  • need for immediate attention/gratification/care
  • rapid growth development
  • selfish/unsocial
  •                

    (b)    DISADVANTAGES OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY

  • disruption of career/education/drop out
  • (VVF) vescisco vaginal fistula may develop
  • complication during birth
  • untimely death of both mother and child/either mother or child
  • society stigmatization/embarrassment
  • frustration of the individual/emotional breakdown
  • isolation/loneliness of the individual
  • lack/inadequate fund to care for the mother/child
  • low self esteem/feeling of shame
  • individual may result to prostitution
  •
