Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good.  In part (a)(i) candidates correctly defined First Aid and in (ii) candidates also stated objective of Frist Aid.
In part (b) candidates also outlined principles of Frist Aid.

The expected answers are as follows:

6 (a)(i) FIRST AID
This is the immediate and temporary assistance/care/treatment  given to a victim of accident/injured
person  until the victim receives medical attention.

    (ii)    OBJECTIVES OF FIRST AID

  • to save life
  • to prevent the condition from getting worse
  • to reduce the pain of the casualty
  • to promote health recovery of the victim
  • to prevent further injury
  • to prevent disability
  • ensure victim receives medical care
  •                                                              
    (b)       PRINCIPLES OF FIRST AID
    -     attend to victim quickly and quietly without panicking
    -      restore breathing if need be
    -     stop bleeding if any
