CANDIDATE STRENTH

In Clothing & Textiles, the candidates’ strength were on questions 4, 5 and 6 which were on opening, explanation of boutique, care labels, impulse buying, disadvantages of impulse buying, important points to observe when choosing ready-made garments, opportunities available to Clothing and Textiles students, factors that will affect the growth of a garment factory and how the problems can be prevented. They performed very well in these questions.

In Foods & Nutrition, the candidates were able to answer questions straight to the point. Their strengths were in questions 2, 3, 4 and 5 which were on precautions to take to prevent falls in the kitchen, items to be kept in the first aid box, factors to consider when choosing live poultry, methods suitable for cooking poultry, nutritive value of poultry, definition of bulk and hire purchase, factors to consider before buying goods on hire purchase, disadvantages of hire purchase, occasion for which packed meals are necessary, points to consider when planning packed meals and use of items required for packed meals.

In Home Management, the candidates’ strengths were on questions 1 and 6 which were on steps in Home Management and table manners. Many of them started new answers on fresh pages and also brought the number of the questions forward to the front page in the order they were answered.
