Candidates' weaknesses were observed in the following areas:

1. Content - Some candidates were unable to write up to 300 words as
   required in essay writing and this affected their obtainable marks.
2. Mechanical Accuracy - Most of the candidates could not write Igbo
   words with the official orthography and this dearth their chances of
   obtaining good marks in essay writing.
3. Literature Set Books - Many candidates showed poor mastery of the
   literature set books in the Literature part of the question.

Suggested Remedies Includes:

1. Candidates should be encouraged to buy the recommended set books and
   read them before the examination.
2. Teachers should put in their best when teaching to enable the candidates
   understands the language and be able to write it well.
3. Government and Proprietors should employ qualified Igbo graduates to
   teach the subject in their schools respectively.
