Religion plays a prominent role in the novel. The novel captures the virtues and
vices of growing religious spread with its attendant implications in the lives of its
adherents. Silas life in Lantern Yard is inseparable from the local church. Silas
admits limitation in matters of faith. Silas lost his confidence in God and
man and later regained it after the discovery of Eppie.
Few candidates answered this question and their performance was poor.
