How does Pokuwaa Cope with tradition in the novel?

Observation

The required answer should include:

  • The involvement of Pokuwaa in the purification rites to pacify the gods in the course of which she prays that the gods should make her fertile.

 

  • She takes herbal medicines given to her by the priests religiously.
  • She conforms to throwing away the hornbill into the bush when urged to do so.
  • Her resolve to discontinue sacrifices to the gods is an expression of dissatisfaction with the state of affairs after which she gets pregnant.
