OBSERVATION

Beatrice is Eugene’s wife. Instances of Eugene’s physical, psychological and emotional abuse of Beatrice and the children abound in the novel Beatrice and her children endure brutality at the hands of Eugene without protest. When bottled-up she poisons Eugene to bring the plot to its climax. Most candidates gave a character Sketch of Beatrice.
