Question 8

What impressions of the upper class life do you form from your study of the play?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

Impressions of the upper class life should be discussed in detail with the following points:

            (i)         The upper class holds itself out as superior to the lower;
(ii)        The pretentious nature of the upper class – appears glamorous outside,  but on close examination is not that special in terms of morality and            ordinary expectations;
            (iii)       The upper class is high-handed in their treatment of the lower class;
           (iv)        They are hypocritical as regards their frivolous and materialistic view of marriage;
(v)        The upper class is also obsessed with name and family.

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was poor.
