Question 3

Examine the role of Adejumo in the destruction of Owu.

Observation

This was a popular question which many of the candidates answered.  Most of them narrated the destruction of Owu Kingdom by the Allied Forces rather than Adejumo’s role in it. Some even confused Adejumo with Maye Okunade.  The role of Adejumo in the destruction of Owu includes:

Erelu’s disobedience in nurturing her son, Adejumo to adulthood, despite the warning of the gods.

  • Adejumo’s abduction of Maye Okunade’s beautiful wife, Iyunloye of which Maye eventually sought revenge.
  • Adejumo and his father’s participation in slave trade against their Yoruba brothers.

Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
