Most of the candidates who attempted this question had no difficulty in providing the required response to part (a) of the question.  However, part (b) was extremely difficult for them.  The required response to part (b) of the question is:

-           prepare the mould;
-           melt the metal;
-           pour molten metal into the mould;
-           allow the content to solidify;
-           remove the casting from the mould for fettling.
