2i The following materials were supplied:

(a) one piece free cutting mild steel rod Ø35 mm x 80 mm;

(b) one cotton bag, 90 mm x 120 mm to enclose the finished work;

2ii The diagram below shows a detailed view of a machine part. Produce the part using the material supplied.

OBSERVATION

Only about 1% of the candidates attempted this question. Most of them could not use the centre lathe machine to do what was required of them.

This could be attributed to the lack of well trained technical personnel and centre lathe machines in most schools.
