The following weaknesses were obvious among most of the candidates:

(1)        Poor sense of rhythm as candidates’ responses were not in agreement with the dictated rhythm.
(2)        Poor aural perception.
(3)        Weak music notation was a common deficiency among the candidates. Many of the candidates could not notate correctly.

SUGGESTED REMEDY

Candidates should be exposed to thorough aural training before taking the WASSCE. They should also listen sufficiently to more art music and classical music.
