Office Practice May/June 2015

Candidates' Weaknesses

-     Inadequate mastery of the subject matter.  Most candidates showed poor knowledge of the subject as a result they approached the case study question which was in question 1 as a comprehension question. Hence they copied the answers from the passage.
-     Poor usage of English language: Most of the candidates could not explain
their points in simple and correct English Grammar, thus they lost
valuable marks.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES

-           The candidates should be encouraged to study standard and comprehensive text books in their preparation for the examination rather than relying on ‘key-points’.
-           Candidates should endeavour to learn the rules of English Grammar so as to enable them express their points clearly.
-           The teachers should thoroughly teach the candidates the difference between the explains, state and list so as to enable the candidates score reasonable marks in their examination.
-           well qualified teachers that studies Business Education (Secretarial Option) or secretarial studies should be employed to teach the candidates.
