Observation

The question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good. In part (a)(i) many candidates correctly labelled the facility illustrated. In (a)(ii) candidates correctly named events in athletics for which the facility illustrated is used and in (a)(iii), candidates correctly stated the division of athletics to which the long jump and triple jump belong. In part (b) (i) candidates correctly named middle distance races in athletics; in (b )(ii), candidates could not correctly outline features of a long distance race in athletics. In part (c )(i), candidates mentioned types of relay races in athletics and in (c)(ii) candidates listed long distances races in athletics
