Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates. Their performance was good. In part (a) candidates could not give detailed reasons why the modem Olympic Games was revived. In part (b), candidates stated differences between recreational activities and sport competition correctly. Inpart (c) candidates also mentioned factors that influence the choice of recreation correctly.
The expected answers were as follows:

(a) Reasons why the modem Olympic Games werer revived
because of the role of sports in education
because of the need for a common game competition
the need for a social change
the discovery of excavation of the temple of Zeus
Any 2 xl 2 marks

(b) Differences between recreational activities and Sports Competition
