Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor.  In part (a) many candidates missed the track by naming blood, liver, blood vessels, kidney, lungs, artery, capillaries and veins as chambers of the human heart.  In part (b) few candidates did well while some candidates went-off the track by stating exercise makes the body ready for work, exercise removes sickness from human body, exercise makes the blood circulate round the body as benefits of exercise to human body.
However, the expected answers were as follows:                                                                          
8(a)      CHAMBERS OF THE HEART

  • right atrium/right auricle
  • left atrium/left auricle
  • right ventricle
  • left ventricle

  (b)      BENEFITS OF EXERCISE TO THE BODY

  • improves heart beat thereby pumping more blood to all parts of the body
  • improves functioning of the lungs
  • digestive system works faster to supply needed nourishment to all parts                  of the body
  • muscles are toned up and the bones are strengthened
  • joints become more flexible
  • endurance is improved
  • postural defects are prevented/corrected
  • reduces/prevents excess body weight/obesity
  • delays ageing process and prevents diseases
