Observation

This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good.  In part (a)(i) candidates could not correctly state ways by which a draw can be resolved in the game of football, in (a)(ii) candidates correctly stated five rules guiding the throw-in during the game of football.

In part (b) candidates could not correctly state offences that could lead to the award of a 7-metres throw in a handball game.  In part (c) candidates correctly stated differences between volleyball game and football game.

The expected answers are as follows:

            5(a)(i)    Ways by which a Draw can be Resolved in the Game of Football

                  -     award of extra time.
                  -     award of penalty kicks
                   -     replay                                             

               (ii)    Rules Guiding Throw-in during the Game of Football

                     -     thrower must face the field of play while throwing
               -     at the moment of throwing the ball, the feet must be on the ground behind the  
                     sideline.
                     -     the thrower must use both hands
                     -     the thrower must deliver the ball from behind and over the head
                     -     the thrower must not play the ball until it has been played by another player
                     -     the ball must be thrown and not dropped
                     -     a goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in
                     -     the ball must be thrown from the point where it left the field of play.
                                                         

         (b)    Offences that could lead to the Award of a 7metres throw in a Handball Game

               -     obstructing a clear chance of the opponent scoring a goal.
               -     a player intentionally entering ones, own goal area for defensive purpose
               -     intentionally playing the ball to one’s goalkeeper, who is in the goal area and the   
                     goalkeeper touches the ball
               -     the goalkeeper carrying the ball into his own goal area
                                               
       (c)  Differences Between Volleyball Game and Football Game

-  the size of the court is small/explained
-  the game is started with a service

-  six players make a playing  team/twelve players make two teams

-   winner is determined by the points scored
-   net divides the court into two halves

-   the game is started with kick-off/centre pass
  -   eleven players make a playing team/twenty two players makes two teams
 -    ninety minutes fulltime/forty five minutes half time
-   legs mostly used during the game

-   winner is determined by the number of goals scored  
-   net covers the goalposts
