  1. Who is a travel agent?
  2. Outline five support services in tourism.
  3. Highlight four functions of a travel agent.

Observation

    This question was very popular and it seemed to be very easy for candidates to answer.
    Some of those who attempted it responded positively and scored good marks. They were
    able to tell who a travel agent is; mention and explain the support services in tourism and
    functions of a travel agent. The following points were expected to be highlighted by the
    candidates in order to score good marks:

(a)

A travel agent is a private retailer or public
service that provides tourism related services to the public on behalf of suppliers
such as airlines, car rentals, cruise  lines, hotels, railways and package tours.
(b)

  1.  Insurance:  travellers take up insurance policies for their journeys;
  2. Banking:  it provides the necessary banking documents for travellers as well as other banking transactions;


(c)

  1. Processing reservation for clients (e.g. air tickets, hotel rooms);
  2. Communicating with customers and suppliers;
  3. Issuance of travel ticket to clients;
