Candidates Weakness |
Candidates’ weaknesses were observed in the following:
- Inaccurate representations of the composed objects as candidates’ works appeared to have been based on their imagination rather than on observation of the composition before them.
- Poor shading techniques manifesting in lack of gradation in tones and non-indication of light source.
- Drawing of objects out of proportion, as the relationship between the different objects were exaggerated and not accurately represented.
- Poor compositions of objects, which were drawn in scattered placement, thereby leading to lack of unity in composition.
- Inappropriate use of space. Objects were drawn either too large or too small for the available space.
Remedies for the weaknesses identified above include:
- Making concerted efforts in improving their understanding of the fundamentals of good drawing.
- Constant practice of drawing under the guidance of trained and experienced teachers or professionals.
