Candidates' weakness/REMEDIES

The candidates’ weaknesses include:

(1)       Inability to write extensively on the chosen essay titles.  They wrote far below the required 300 words;
(2)       Lack of in-depth knowledge on the use of Yoruba modern orthography;
(3)       Poor knowledge of the use of punctuation marks;
(4)       Wrong/deficient use of tone-marks;
(5)       Lack of in-depth knowledge of some recommended textbooks, especially Literature texts;
(6)       Illegible handwriting;
(7)       Lack of adequate knowledge of traditional customs and institutions;
(8)       Failure to dot some letters, such as [ε] ‘ẹ’, [כ ] ‘ọ’, [ς] ‘ṣ’, [ε̄ ] ‘ẹn’,[כ ̄ ]
‘ọn’ e.t.c.

Teachers should channel efforts in addressing all these identified
weaknesses from the beginning of students’ course in school.
