The standard of the paper compared favourably with those of previous years. Clarity of the rubrics and flexibility of the marking scheme were maintained. The questions were clearly itemized, unambiguous and easily comprehensible.
The performance of the candidates was better than that of previous year indicating an increase in the level of preparedness for the examination.
The candidate population of 1,050,591 had a raw mean score of 33 and a standard deviation of 14.56 as against a raw mean score of23 and a standard deviation of 13.96 recorded in the May/June 2007 W ASSCE with candidature of 952,649.
