The paper compared favourably with those of previous years in terms of standard,
concepts tested and coverage of the examination syllabus. The rubrics were clear
and the marking scheme flexible and exhaustive. The questions were clearly
itemized to ease comprehension. The performance of the candidates was lower
than that of the previous year. The candidate population of 181,354 had a raw
mean score of 13 and a standard deviation of 4.36 compared to a raw mean
score of 16 and standard deviation of 8.89 recorded in the November/December
2009 WASSCE with candidate population 189,358.
