The candidates were unable to obtain the correct voltage values for Question 1. As reported, many of them got the readings wrong.
For many years, the inability to obtain correct readings has characterized candidates’ performance.
Suggested Remedies
It was suggested that to remedy this weakness:
- qualified technical teachers were required to expose the candidates to the effective use of electrical measuring instruments;
- schools should provide voltage and current measuring instruments for practice by the candidates especially for values in milli and micro;
- introduction of skill of instrument reading in the syllabus.
