In spite of the above strengths exhibited by candidates, the following weaknesses were equally noticed by examiners:
- Commission of grammatical mistakes by some candidates.
- Inadequate answers under the literature segment of the paper. This can be ascribed to inadequate studying of some prescribed texts and literary icons.
- Mis-interpretation of questions by few candidates which resulted in wrong answers and irrelevancies.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES
It is therefore recommended that candidates for this examination should work extra hard to procure the prescribed literature texts and other resource materials where detailed information about the biographies of literary personalities listed in the syllabus can be obtained. Apart from this, there should be adequate mastery of basic rules of Arabic Grammar (Qawācid) so as to overcome poor and ineffective use of the language when writing.
