The following shortcomings were observed from the candidates’ work:
- Poor knowledge and skills of dimensioning techniques.
- Inability to produce drawing to a specified scale.
- Failure to distinguish a building floor level from the ground (formation) level.
- Difficulty in representing doors! on plan with appropriate conventional symbols.
To overcome these shortcomings:
- candidates should be given ample relevant graded assignments that will test various skills of dimensioning techniques;
- candidates should be taught the appropriate scale used for different types of drawing.
- teachers should lay emphasis on the level and the ground (formation) level.
- chart illustrating how some key building features such as doors and windows are represented graphically on plan, section and elevation should be displayed in their drawing studio.
