Most candidates were able to:

- label the staircase correctly.
However, few candidates failed to:
- sketch the straight flight timber staircase;
- state in sequence, the stages in fixing a hardwood door frame to a sandcrete blockwall;

(b) The five stages involved in fixing a door frame to a sandcrete blockwall while the walling is in progress are:
- lay first course of blocks to the place where the frame is to be fixed;
- place and support the frame in position;
- check the vertical and horizontal alignment of the frame and brace firmly in position;
- place fixing lugs on the frame to match the location of mortar beds;
erect blockwork at both sides of the frame to complete the walling operation to the lintel level.
