The standard of the paper compares very well with those of previous years.
The composition questions were within the scope of the syllabus: an
informal letter, a formal letter, an article for publication in a magazine, a
speech and story writing. The passages were on familiar subjects and the
marking scheme was exhaustive.
Generally, there was no significant improvement in candidates'
performance.

Students of English Language should be exposed to questioning techniques
similar to the ones tested in their certificate examination and teachers should
also be exposed to regular training so as to enhance their performance and
ensure a more qualitative output
