Candidates exhibited lack of practice in Oral French. Most of them could not read the passages well. French words were wrongly pronounced. Some of them pronounced words that resemble English words with English pronunciation. For instance words like “lagune” matinee, cultivateurs, chez etc.

In exposition, some of the candidates could not express themselves well in French.
Some of them did not understand simple instructions like “De´crivez” “Epelez” etc.

SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT

Teachers of French should endeavour to practice all aspects of the Oral French with the students before the examination.
Students should be exposed to Listening Comprehension practice. In teaching the students the correct way of pronouncing French words.
They should also encourage the students to read simple French stories, magazines and journals so as to acquire more vocabulary.
