This question was very popular among the candidates. Most of those who answered the question scored high marks. A few of them had no idea of what Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is. The expected notes on Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) include:
- tropical northeast trades are dry and dusty;
- southeast trades and southwest monsoons are wet and moisture laden;
- the two winds converge over the Equatorial Trough along a line of discontinuity called ITD or the ITCZ;
- in West Africa, ITCZ lies close to the sea in December and January;
- the ITCZ moves to 20oN in August. |
