This was a popular question with the candidates. The performance of the candidates was generally alright. They needed to know the factors that leads to the growth of urban settlements namely:
- natural increase in population

migration to advantaged areas e.g. well drained and fertile soils

rural- urban migration

government policies in creating new towns
-
decentralization of administrative function e.g. creation of new States and LGAs
-
change in administrative status e.g. a town becoming a State headquarters

presence of economic activities e.g. mining

industrial development

availability of social amenities
-
absence of disasters – natural or man-made
-
accessibility to urban centers.
