This question was a popular question among the candidates and their performance
was good. In part (a)(i) candidates correctly identify the structure represented by the diagram, in (a)(ii) candidates could not correctly name the parts labelled I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII and VIII, they muddled up the answers by mentioning wrong answers such as crown, secondary layer, muscle/nucleus, primary layer, dead cell, molar, they also mistook answers for the labels. In part (b) candidates correctly state function each of the parts labelled I and IV. In part (c) candidates correctly name diseases that could affect the structure represented by the diagram.
However, the expected answers were as follows:
3 (a) (i) Identification structure represented by the diagram
(ii) Naming the parts labelled
I - enamel
II - dentine
III - pulp cavity
IV - cement
V - alveolar membrane
VI - root
VII - neck
VIII - crown
(b) Function of the parts labelled I and IV
