- blacksmithing was a profession and means of livelihood for many people;
- there were traders who bought iron products from blacksmiths and sold them to the public;
- iron bars and bracelets made by blacksmiths were used as currency;
- most ethnic groups had a patron deity for blacksmithing;
- the workshop of blacksmith was a revered place where people went to swear an oath;
- iron products were used for entertainment e.g. gongs, bells, etc.
