(c) State the three major food groups and give two examples of each.

Observation

Definition of adequate diet and method of cooking was well answered. They had problem in writing the major food group. Some were writing food nutrients instead of food group.

The required answers to the questions are as follows:

  3a.         Definition of an adequate diet
                 An adequate diet is one that contains all the food nutrients in the right proportion as required by                   the body.

   b.        Methods of cooking
           i.   Frying
          ii.    Steaming
           iii. Grilling
           iv. Baking
           v.   Roasting
           vi. Boiling
          vii. Stewing

  c.       Major food groups and examples:
            i. Body building foods - eggs, meat, beans, fish etc
           ii. Energy - giving foods - yam, rice, cassava, sugar, cocoyam, fat and oil

             iii   Protective foods - green vegetables, fruits, nuts etc.
