Candidates’ weaknesses were  observed in these areas:
                        
                          - Content – Some candidates were unable to  write up to the required number of words. ie. 300 words.
 
                          - Lack of in-depth knowledge of the Language –  Some candidates could not explain the terms given to them. This showed that  they lacked knowledge of the language. 
 
                      
                        
                          - Literature Texts – Some candidates found it  difficult to answer questions on the literature texts.  It was obvious from the performance of the  candidates that many of them did not read the prescribed textbooks.
 
                        
                        SUGGESTED  REMEDIES
                        
                          - Candidates should always practise essay  writing at their convenient time.  This  will help in preparing them adequately for the examination.
 
                          - Candidates should endeavour to learn how to  speak and write the language by listening to Igbo educative programmes and by  reading Igbo novels and journals.
 
                          - Candidates should equip themselves with the  prescribed textbooks to enable them prepare  well for the examination
