Observation
This question was attempted by few candidates. The question required candidates to state any three functions of lining materials in a shoe and identify different parts of a male shoe. Most candidates were able to identify correctly the different parts of the shoe but only few of them were able to state the functions of lining materials in a shoe. Candidates’ performance in this question was quite impressive.
The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to obtain the maximum marks.
(a)(i)    To maintain the shape and provide support  for the upper.
    (ii)    To absorb moisture.
    (iii)   To protect the foot from the seams and heavy stitches.
    (iv)   To support and reinforce lower quality leather/materials.
    (v)    To enhance the comfortability of the shoe. 
    (vi)   To protect the upper from stains.
    (vii) To make the shoe durable.
